Poly / Recycled Plastic Porch Swings

Collection Details & Buying Guide

Recycled Plastic & Poly Porch Swings — Zero Maintenance Outdoor Swings

Recycled plastic porch swings — also called poly porch swings or HDPE swings — are the highest-durability outdoor swing option available. Built from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) recycled plastic lumber, these swings never rot, never fade, never need painting, and can be left outside year-round in any climate. Rain, snow, sun, and salt air have no effect on HDPE poly lumber.

Browse poly porch swings from LuxCraft (Amish-built, residential lifetime warranty, 30+ colors, 4-foot and 5-foot widths) and Wildridge (20-year residential warranty, marine-grade stainless hardware throughout). Available in classic highback, rollback, Adirondack, and mission styles. Free shipping on every order.

Recycled Plastic vs. Wood Porch Swings

The core trade-off is upfront cost vs. lifetime cost. A recycled plastic poly swing costs more to buy than a cedar or pine swing, but costs nothing to maintain and never needs replacing. A cedar swing costs less upfront but needs sealing every 2–3 years and replacing every 10–20 years in most climates. Over a 20-year period, a poly porch swing is almost always the more economical choice — and it's better for the environment.

  • Poly swing: Higher upfront cost, zero maintenance, lasts 30+ years
  • Wood swing: Lower upfront cost, needs sealing every 2–3 years, lasts 10–20 years with care
  • Conclusion: Poly is the better lifetime value for most homeowners

Choosing Your Poly Porch Swing

Size: 4-foot swings comfortably seat 2 adults. 5-foot swings seat 2–3. Measure your porch opening and leave at least 18 inches of clearance on each side. For a 6-foot-wide porch, choose a 4-foot swing maximum.

Style: Highback and rollback are the most versatile. Adirondack-style swings add the iconic fan-back look. Mission swings have a horizontal-slat Arts & Crafts profile.

Color: LuxCraft offers 30+ colors embedded through the full thickness of the lumber — they cannot chip or fade. Wildridge offers 20+ colors. Both brands offer two-tone combinations for a custom look.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a poly porch swing?
A poly porch swing is a porch swing made from recycled plastic lumber (HDPE). The material looks and installs like wood but never rots, splinters, fades, or needs maintenance. "Poly," "HDPE," "poly lumber," and "recycled plastic" all refer to the same material. Shoppers also search for this material as "resin," "composite," "vinyl," or "PVC" porch swings — while not technically precise terms, they all point to the same weatherproof, maintenance-free poly lumber swings in this collection.

Can a recycled plastic porch swing stay outside all year?
Yes. Poly HDPE porch swings are completely weatherproof and can stay outside year-round — including through freezing winters, humid summers, and coastal salt air — with no covering, storage, or treatment required.

How much weight does a poly porch swing hold?
LuxCraft and Wildridge poly porch swings are typically rated for 500–800 lbs depending on the model. Always hang your swing from ceiling joists — not drywall anchors — using stainless steel hardware rated for the load.
